ABOUT GREAT WALLHome / About Great Wall / Akaroa

Akaroa

Akarova, located in the Banks Peninsula of New Zealand, is the place where the French first settled down. Both buildings, street names and cafes have strong French style. It is recommended to take the "Canterbury Catamaran" cruise ship to enjoy the picturesque scenery of Hecht Dolphins and Akarova Port. Aside from being suitable for leisure and vacation, Akarova is still dominated by New Zealand's traditional forest industry, animal husbandry, fish industry and cheese industry. The warm and sunny climate makes it known as the blue coast of Canterbury, New Zealand.

In 1838, a French whaling captain bought a piece of land on the peninsula from the local Maori chief and returned to France. Later, a ship named the Earl of Paris brought the first batch of French immigrants, and it still retains the French style. Tourism is the main economic source of Akarova. Playing with dolphins, cruising the volcanic harbor by boat, swimming on the picturesque beach, and tasting local wine and salmon are all modern tourism projects of Akarova.
